Fall Fun on Fall River

Fall Fun on Fall River

Fall River is an amazing place to fish just about any time of year. I still can’t get over the fact that I can sight fish to 20-inchers less than a half-hour from home. The river is open year-round and well-stocked with rainbows in the summer time. September and October can offer some truly incredible fishing, though.

The Fall River Loop trail offers a few miles of flat, easy riding near the confluence of Fall River and the Deschutes. For the perfect day, pack your fishing gear and ride away from the crowds before dropping your bike to explore the river on foot. There are some serious lunkers in there.

Look downstream between the falls and the Deschutes for some big, wild brown trout!

If you have a fat bike or even just some bulky knobbies, you can ride and fish well into November and December, and even through the winter. Just don’t forget your gloves!
